From Patient to Advocate: David's Transformation

David was paralyzed from the waist down after a motorcycle accident at age 19. His family, unable to afford care, isolated him in a small room. LHRC's disability inclusion team found him malnourished and depressed. They provided: • Physiotherapy and rehabilitation • Mental health support • Assistive devices • Skills training in tailoring • Connectivity with other persons with disabilities Two years later, David runs a successful tailoring business from his home, employs 3 people with disabilities, and advocates for disability rights in his district. He has become a mentor to 50+ young people with disabilities, showing them that disability doesn't define their potential.
